I would prefer to only alter clothes not sew from scratch. It is cheaper for people to buy clothes ready made off the racks than to have someone sew an article from scratch because to pay someone per hour what their time is worth to make an article from scratch would go into the $100.00's. When altering clothes I have found that mens clothes are easier to alter. This is because they are designed better and are all designed the same.
